...for they are just and wise. Boy oh boy, do I feel human again! I just completely hit the wall after lunch (which was packaged sushi in a stolen conference room, garnished with furtive, strategic brainstorming for accursed project), so I left the office at 2:30 p.m. and was napping with my daughter by 3. I JUST got up, and I feel like three hundred dollars. That may not sound like a lot to you, but considering the price tags I’ve been sporting lately, it is. It is.

On a lighter note, just before I collasped into bed I was treated to several memorable sights:

1. My five-year-old son and two-year-old daughter “surfing” down the slide on homemade cardboard “surfboards.”

2. My three year-old-son running around the yard in a tutu and hairclip.

3. The mop, bucket, and Lysol, doing their thing in the bathroom. Again. This time, the toilet was chock-a-block when it overflowed. So to speak.

Luckily for all of us, my alert husband had the presence of mind to snap these for posterity before losing his mind completely:

I like a man who is confident enough to wear a tutu and hairclippie.

Very cute!

Wow—your boy looks fabul great in that tutu!
You know, we’re thinking of trying for a 2nd kid soon, and I’ve been a little fearful about the possibility of a boy because I just don’t, uh, get boys so well (2 sisters, no bros.) ... but if I get one like yours, I guess I’ll keep him. Especially if he lets me dress him pretty.

OK, speaking as a parent of two boys and a girl: girls are waaaay easier, but boys ROCK. They are incredibly sweet with their mommies, and are extremely entertaining little monkeys. I will say that if one could plan these things, it would be better to have a boy FIRST, and then a girl would seem easier in terms of sheer calories expended in the day-to-day chasing.

Either way, and regardless of sex, having two is the greatest. They play together and take the entertainment burden off the parents somewhat. And you just can’t buy entertainment like that!

You must keep these photos someplace safe and then pull them out at appropriate moments to blackmail your son!  You have some wonderfully evil times ahead!!!

My daughter’s male cousin Jesse likes to run around with his hair up in hairclippee pigtails - he’s being a bulldog...

OK, speaking as a parent of three girls and one boy… boys are MUCH easier to understand, everything is about eating or discovering (hence the broken toys, clocks, etc) or their willies (actually put their willies first in that list). Girls on the other hand are much more complicated and require thought which, after a hard day at work can be difficult to muster… and as for the nascent hormones, waaaah!

Sometimes it’s me and Dan against the world so we slap each other and dig holes, bliss.

We have one of my son in a purple leotard.  I can’t wait till he gets older and starts bringing girls home.

Oh, you are my kind of mommy!  My 3 year old (on March 23) son does this kind of stuff all of the time - I love it!

I can’t wait to read more of your blog - P

I thought Dylan did a masterful job pulling out the soft, pastelly colors in the tutu with the bold, rich turqouise and red flower hairclip.
