Man! only about a tenth of what I said made it into the final cut! The part where I’m saying, “What’s in your mouth? WHAT’S in your mouth?” refers to the day I pulled a live snail from Dylan’s piehole. I shit thee not. We all practically threw up.
Anyway, today’s Momversation is about Salmonella in the peanut butter. Mercury in high fructose corn syrup. Lead in children’s toys. It seems that everywhere we turn, there are toxins galore. But are the risks from these blown out of proportion? Alice Bradley from Finslippy asks, “Is the toxin danger real or just hype?”
- What foods do you refuse to let your kids eat?
- What do you do when others won’t follow your food rules?

such an interesting discussion. I think it’s important to be aware of these issues of course and to try to be protective for our children’s sakes, but I do believe that if we’re not careful, we can go overboard. At the same time, it’s nice that there are more and more organic and alternative options from which to choose.

Um .. HOW??? My mind is boggling. And of course it would be Dylan.
*Dylan*—my man!
I once opened a bag of prewashed, etc salad from Trader Joes and was nearly stung by a dazed & angry bee that fell out of the package and onto my hand—!!!! Half the salad hit the trash. I ate the other parts, after giving them an extra wash & look through. I was really hungry.
I’m with you, Mindy. I try to worry about catching the big stuff. I read labels and limit processed food for the kids. I try to be good about the toys, but I don’t obsess. I try and be safe without smothering.

UGH!! A live snail IN-HIS-MOUTH?!!! AAACK!
sooooo gross!
LOL @ Alice saying “I’m pro dirt”
PS - SOOO sick of the target commerical they keep showing at the beginning of the momversation. They really need to get a new commercial on there!

I guess all of the things that we use are now poisonous to our children.
LOL.. How did the bee get inside the salad? That is a delicious treat, a bee salad.

I was laughing out loud at some of the video comments!
Made me think that perhaps we’d all live a long, happy, productive life if we simply stuck to the most super-safe of diets - cake and huge helpings of chocolate fudge frosting! After all, have you ever heard of a recall on those two wonderfully satisfying food items? Hmmm. See?
I’d love to write more, but I’ve got an urge to double-dip my finger in the frosting now. Does spit count as an anti-bacterial wash???
