This way, you can all help me recall what I’m supposed to be doing (and where I dumped my brain)!
To do today:
- Figure out how to make curvy corners using javascript and set it up for default inclusion in a Joomla! post template.
- Shower.
- Head to mall to purchase coats & ties & shirts & slacks & socks & shoes & dresses for children so they can look presentable at brother’s wedding in Atlanta this weekend. Remember, we live in CA and never have to dress up. Or look all that groomed. (Must find makeup.)
- Inventory luggage to see if adequate to transport gear for four days of fancy parties plus four days of beach for three children and one frazzled grownup. Borrow if necessary.
- Come up with system that separates children’s things without actually having to buy each one separate luggage. Once it’s all jumbled you may as well go home. There’s no sorting it out or getting any help at that point.
- Find coloring books, puzzles, etc. for six hour flights, plus six hour car rides between Atlanta and Myrtle Beach. Also, pepper spray.
- Find out from publisher if they can hurry up with the yearbook my friend and I designed and produced for pre-kindergarten class even though they work with presses, not wands.
- Fold all laundry and put away.
- Clean floors or learn how to do a decent soft-shoe.
- Empty fridge of anything that might breed in my absence.
- Stop mail.
- Wait, don’t stop mail. Friend must be able to pick up box of yearbooks when they arrive. Beg friend instead to hide mail.
- Don’t forget camera. Don’t forget camera. Don’t forget camera.
- Don’t forget portable DVD player and straps that harness it to the back of the front car seat.
- Buy booster seat for Daphne as she is too big for her Roundabout and too little to stay on the cute little perch Volvo intends for a booster. Get the pink one with flowers and she’ll never fight me on it.
- Eat something.
- Create budget templates for mother’s new job. Also, letter templates. Also, labels.
- Don’t forget cell phone. Don’t forget cell phone. Don’t forget cell phone.
- Set alarm clock for four a.m. Friday morning and pray for cooperation when Mom arrives at five to take us all to the airport. In two cars.
- Don’t forget meds. Don’t forget meds. Don’t forget meds.
Greetings! My name is Jessica and I’m an intern at Babble.com, the new online parenting magazine for the stylish, urban parent. Our staff is in love with your completely candid posts about life after divorce, your three kids (Daphne sounds adorable!), and your technophilia. I hope that the job interview at Yahoo works out!
I’m writing because I thought you might be interested in posting about droolicious.com, the latest Babble blog which features fun product design and style guides for babies and toddlers. We just launched yesterday and would love for a hip, with it blogger (like yourself) to spread the word.
Happy to do it - I had a look and will definitely be back. I pored over the travel-fun books and was KICKING myself for not having something like that on hand for the trip!

Here’s an idea for the packing - REI (on Saratoga) has “stuff-sacks” and zippered packing cubes in their travel gear. They come in lots of sizes and colors. You could get the kids each one or two and pack their stuff in there and then pack the sacks in the suitcase. I use these sacks all the time for my travels to keep clothes, socks, and underwear separate. It’s a breeze for traveling. Nothing gets messed up, dirty or lost.
You need to add “breath” to your list. Good luck and have a great time at the wedding.

Atlanta is HOT right now. And humid. Just ask Miss Doxie...she likes to run bare-butt through the streets…

And since you’re going, may I give you a tip? Best ribs ever can be found at Fatt Matt’s Rib Shack...on Piedmont, just a little north of Piedmont Park beside a Subway and near Tattletales Nude Dancing, where, incidentally, THEY have lunch specials for $6. (I have pictures to prove it.)
Have fun in Hotlanta.

Oh, and then youre going to MB? We just got back from a week there. Don’t miss Broadway at the Beach Tuesday night if you are there - Great fireworks show at 10pm. In North Myrtle Beach is a fabulous restaurant named Martini’s, (3rd Ave. South in North Myrtle). And heck, as long as you are passing through Florence, you should stop in our little restaurant and eat - Carolina Sandwich Co. on Palmetto Street/Hwy 76.
Can you tell I’m all about the food?
Again, have fun!

Packing:
2 suitcasees between the three kids. One for the dress up stuff. Buy the really giant ziploc bags and put each kids outfit for each event in the bag (i.e., all 3 rehearsal dinner outfits go in one bag, 3 wedding outfits in one bag, etc.) LABEL the bags, keep that suitcase separate from the others and ban anyone but you from going in there. You can do the same w/ a suitcase for the kids casual stuff, bag of outfits per day, same for Daphs socks and undies and boys sox and undies. Bags can be used over and over.
have fun in Hotlanta.
If you have time, tour the Coca-Cola factory

Growing up, I had friends whose dads worked at Coca-cola. I got the stink eye for asking for a Pepsi once. No one says the p-word in Atlanta.
I took Lori’s suggestion since the place she mentioned is right up the freeway from me, and I got these amazing cube-shaped, soft, zippered sacks that are perfect. I can fit three across in a duffel bag, so everyone has their own domain. I even have a smaller one that has all the dressy clothes in it. Am I smart or what? Well, except for the part where I thought Dylan would like the pink shirt and cool tie I got him. He took one look and said, “I’m going to take this to the dump.”
And after all that, I forgot to get the blazers I spent forever picking out. They’re hanging on a rounder somewhere. Think we need it? Dressy wedding in Atlanta? I’m cringing.

Oh, growing up, my cousins and I quickly learned to never say the “p” word within a 5-mile radius of our Atlanta-bred grandmother!
For a quick packing fiz, use the gigantimous Ziploc baggies. It might not be the prettiest or hippest way to pack but it works in a pinch.

For your sake I hope that it’s an indoor wedding. Summers in the south are nothing to play with. Like Amy @ 11:47 said, it is very hot and HUMID down south. This is why I detest summertime...I feel like I can’t breath when I am outdoors........air conditioning will be your bestest friend! lol

So basically, just another day in the life of a mommy?
