Doesanyonerememberthis?

The goddamn fucking gate has been off the fence all this time and someone just stole my gas BBQ. It was here before I left for mom’s birthday dinner last night.

All I needed was to get the stupid thing back on the post. People offered to help but I didn’t stand there with a whip and it didn’t happen. I literally cannot lift it myself. And now the 16-foot storage POD will be here within the hour, along with Dylan and Daphne, who are sick. My ex is bringing them here so he can have phone calls.

And one of my children just received one of the worst behavior reports ever and I HAD NO IDEA. Why did no one talk with us about this before sending it home, so we could fix it?

It’s just raining kittens and ice cream here.

At least I will have time to myself to finish clearing out personal stuff so the Realtor can show the place ASAP. The kids will spending their winter break in Tahoe with their father and my parents this Saturday through Wednesday, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

Mindy, I’m so sorry.  This is a bummer.

Oh Mindy.  I have two similar looking gates.
On the bright side, your gate is waaaay prettier than mine. (and is it me, or did that sentence take a slightly pornographic turn?)
Add that to your list of things you’ve got going for you.
That’ll make your day. :)

I hope it gets better soon.

Re. the behaviour report:
This happened to our family, also right before a holiday from school, thereby obliging us to wait 3 weeks to talk to the teachers. Completely out of the blue, several lines about our son’s misbehaviour.
I used to meet his teachers twice a day every day, morning and evening, during that school term and they did not mention a single thing before the report. I remember feeling exactly as you describe: WHY HADN’T THEY INFORMED US AT THE START, so we could have dealt with the situation and not let it snowball for weeks on end?
It’s just not good management by the school….especially in the case of cooperative parents who are interested in working with the teachers on any behaviour issues…
Hope you can sell your house for a good price and that things start to fall into place again soon.

No clue why someone would steal a used grill.  How desperate.  Sorry to hear that Mindy.

Regarding the behavior slip, my son just got one too.  He was the 2nd child to receive a slip in his class since school started.  Behavior slips are rare so if you get one, it’s bad.  In his apology letter, I had him inform his teacher of his punishment.  He would lose 3 weeks of computer/tv time.  He threw a huge fit about telling her but I bet I’ll never see another behavior slip again.

Good luck with the packing!

I feel your pain. I actually got around to fitting a new fence before the dogs got squashed by a car and then decided to paint it in a vibrant purple. I don’t know what happened but the wood around the lock simple splintered into three pieces and so now we are once again without a trustworthy gate. Maybe it is time for us all to go back to no gates, no theft and dogs that run free.

Sad to hear this, there sure are some mean hoodlums in the world.  Out of all the things to steal, a BBQ?  That’s so low!
