ForMom

We had a lovely dinner with Mom and George tonight, and I took some pics of her garden for her because, well, because, I guess because she’s still a bit of a gypsy.

She commutes between her home in Northern California and her job in Gary, Indiana (please don’t ask). As a result, she doesn’t get to see each of her treasures in all of the various stages of glory. We keep hoping that she’ll settle down one day, because she ain’t gettin’ any younger and her grandchildren would like to see her grow up.

So, Mom, these are for you.

WHOA!
She has to commute that far!?!?

That is...wow...that seems really rough.

Nope, I have to ask - Gary?!?

I mean, we all know the Music Man and such, but having lived near Gary was enough for me.  Why the heck Gary?

Hee hee, I knew that would get someone’s attention… She taught for many years at IU, and was Vice-chancellor when she left to come to CA to take care of Dylan when he was sick (such a king-maker am I).

After we realized that he’ll eventually put all of us in our graves, she allowed herself to be wooed back to be ED of the cultural center there. It’s actually quite a worthwhile commute!

(Oh, but it looks good on you… )

I think the birds on the birdbath are a little petrified.

Beautiful garden!  As a former Hoosier, I agree with Rachel… Gary?!?! It must be a very worthwhile position!

Okay, now on the surface I can, and do, respect anyone who was Vice-Chancellor at IU (go Hoosiers!) That being said… Umm, we’re still talking about Lake County here.  We’re still talking about Gary.  Surely there are worthwhile positions offered elsewhere.  (Hmm, take that back, in this economy there very well may not be worthwhile positions elsewhere.)
