Family
Family“Mom, everyone tried to tell me what a flu shot would be like, and you were the only one who got it right. You said it would sting and that it would be in my arm for a long time, so they could pump it all in slowly, and that it probably wouldn’t hurt much after. Everyone else said it would be over in a second and hurt like heck for a while and swell up.”
For The Win!

Oh, and later, when I defused a tense situation: “Mom, teach me your wise ways.”

(Here’s hoping this junky computer decides to post this comment…!)
That little cheerleader symbol thingy at the end of this post gave me a good laugh! It took me a minute to realize what it was - I thought it was a vagina!

I’m guessing you know your kids’ reactions to the shots, because one of mine gets the “hurt like heck for a while and swell up” reaction. But that’s probably because every single muscle in her body is tense when she gets that shot.
It’s great when we get clear validation that yeah, us mom’s know what we’re talking about, isn’t it? It’s much better than the times when my pre-teen thinks that I can’t possibly know anything.

Yay, you!
I got to be Mommy pillow for the first time exactly a gajillion days.
Those little things can truly make a day.

Doesn’t it make you feel good when you get it right?

I’ve long been convinced that telling kids the truth is the only way to be the most reliable source of wisdom for them
