Great talk she's giving here. Does any of this sound familiar? Vis a vis sleep deprivation? Consequences of sleep deprivation:
- mood changes
- cognitive effects (memory, attention, problem-solving)
- behavior
- health
- family issues
Best takeaway: Customized Sleep Profile!

A recent poll by the National Sleep Foundation says that two thirds of stay at home moms spend 8 hours a night in bed, but almost 75 percent of themsuffer from symptoms of insomnia 2 - 3 nights a week.
That means, basically, that a lot of us are in bed, but not sleeping well.
And for those of us who work (like me), we get 6 or less hours in bed a night and have the same trouble with insomnia.
When the kids are tiny it’s so hard to sleep--I was soooo lucky because I could fall asleep again quickly. But now that my kids are older, I wake up at the slightest sound and I find it really hard to get back to sleep. What an irony!
Without sleep I find it almost impossible to function. My husband can take red eyes and go straight to work, but my brain would be mush.

I love the internet.
I was surfing along, reading mommy blogs, and stumbled upon yours (which is cute BTW, nice graphics). It reminded me that I really needed to work on a solution for a friend of mine who wrote asking what to do about her waking in the middle of the night, crying, and not going back to sleep baby.
Thanks for the book recommendation!
