Politics
PoliticsI think I’m going to throw up my French Dip from Pluto’s. I’m so ashamed to be from Ohio. I never thought I’d say that. But this scares me.

That scares me too. The mob mentality of some of the McCain/Palin supporters is scary. I just hope it subsides after the election is over.

Scares me that AlJazeera English is a “news” source. 8-)
I wouldn’t feel ashamed by lumping yourself in with a bunch of ignorant racist radicals which you are not, and I’m also sure isn’t a fair sample of people from Ohio. :)
If you want to see scary things that happen on the other side of the political isle checkout the links below. (because it can be scary there too…)
Take a peek to see what I’m talking about:
The video on IrascibleChef “The Tolerant Intolerance” is pretty civil behavior.
Whole selction here: Crush the Obamedia narrative: Look who’s “gripped by insane rage”

wow, racist and ignorance abounds. so sad.

I am scared too. Hate and fear indeed. And ignorance. Scary. It’s not just in Ohio. There are a bazillion “Yes on 8” signs all over the part of Sonoma County where I live.
I wonder if the guy identified himself as being from Al-Jezeera news? And if he did, how did he get away in one piece?

I want to know how many people they interviewed that said, “hey Obama seems like a nice guy but he’s not for me.” I bet hundreds. Thousands. Hundreds of thousands across the nation. And since that statement isn’t newsworthy, we get these scary few people instead. Can someone please point out to these people that it’s the 21st century?
All Republicans are money hungry racist anti-feminist homophobic idiots. Because that describes me to a T, right? Honestly I hate the feeling that if I don’t vote for Obama I’m racist. Can Colin Powell please run for President? Is it too late?
The thing that worries me the most is how divided this is making everyone. And basically almost half the country is going to be very disappointed on Nov 5th.

It’s FREAKY. My husband’s own grandparents would have fit right in with those people…it’s going to be today’s blog topic over at my place. I have NO TOLERANCE for INTOLERANCE!

Sorry Katie,
looks like it’s too late for Colin Powell, looks like Colin is going the other way—Colin Powell might endorse Obama
How, “these times, they are a changin…”

“Might” being the key word there. Or he might indorse McCain. Which wouldn’t make for such an exciting article or promo for the interview. I am becoming cynical in my old age (31) but I don’t really trust the media any more than I do politicians. And at least with politicians at some point they have to vote to show to their positions. Unless they vote “present”. ;)
(I know that “present” actually does show his opinion but it’s such an easy jab that I couldn’t resist.)

Who is Al Jazeera?
10.17.08 at 04:41 PM |
Last night my husband told me about a video Howard Stern made where the people in it who are supporting Obama think his views are McCains!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyvqhdllXgU
Of course both of these videos are a small portion of America who may or may not have the same thoughts or reasoning as the rest.
Oh, and it’s a struggle for me to believe anything as far as opinions people have based on information they’ve heard (from the media, other people, even the candidates themselves, etc.) but have no idea where it came from and do not know if it is absolute fact.

The election is nearly coming and I hope people will vote for who they think is the best.

Powell has said in the past that he would not run for president because he would have too many concerns for the safety of his family. :/

Katie,
31, you’re not old enough to be cynical!
Though you might have cynical tendencies… Looks like it’s now official—Powell endorses Obama for president.
You can vote for who you want for in this country and you don’t have to give reasons—that’s part of the beauty! But when you do give reasons for political purposes be prepared to standby them and take heat for them.
The most ironic part (is coming) is that the people who demonized Powell for his part in the Iraq war will put all kinds of weight and faith in Powell’s endorsement of Obama. Watch, you’ll see. Hypocrites where are you??? It’s all about seeing what you believe…
Present!

actually, i think almost all of the people who criticize Colin Powell for his part in misrepresenting the rationale for the Iraq War will still maintain their critical view of him. however, those people also realize that Powell’s endorsement carries a significant amount of influence with independents and moderate republicans. so while they will still hold the same personal opinion of Powell, they will definitely try to spin his endorsement for the maximum benefit of Obama’s campaign. hypocritical? i don’t think so. pragmatic and manipulative? yes. but that’s politics, isn’t it?
10.20.08 at 04:34 PM |
So, I should have said, Manipulative Pragmatists where are you?
Sounds like hypocrite to me… But I’m fine with Manipulative Pragmatists as long as you include Self-Serving. I would agree—That’s politics!

They don’t call me irascible for nothing…

This is just one way to perk up the news. They are just making news to drum up more supporters for both sides. I just hope that the candidates will stick to the truth and talk about issues at hand.
