Momversation:DoYouJudgeYoungMothers?

Are you kidding? Me judge? Isn’t that a little like complaining that some bloggers never shut up?

More and more mothers are putting off pregnancy until their 30s (or later), which can lead people to wonder why someone has had a baby earlier in life… whether it’s their business or not.  Rebecca Woolf of Girl’s Gone Child asks, “Do you judge young mothers?”

What are some of the judgments you make about the age of a mom?  Do you think the media portrays young moms in a negative or positive light?  Join the Momversation in one of our related forum topics:

ha! I just wrote a post about being mistaken for the nanny, although that has more to do with the fact that I’m brown rather being of a certain age. In any case, I think it’s hilarious!

In some parts of the world, it’s more common for women to wait to have kids. (Especially where you and I live…) The prevailing attitude seems to be that by having kids earlier in life, you’re somehow short changing yourself.

Being a young mom myself, I haven’t personally received a lot of grief about it, but I’ve also received my Masters, traveled most of Western Europe, and had a successful career…albeit a short one due to my choice to be a SAHM.

I gather the REAL problem is that motherhood isn’t valued the way it should be in our society. Like somehow, it’s a lesser choice.
