A few weeks ago, The Washington Post ran a story about historical “last things,” the physical symbols of our “prosperous life” that we hold on to, no matter how much we have to scale back. Daphne Brogdon of Cool Mom asks, “What have you given up in the recession, and what won’t you give up?”

I haven’t had to make any sacrifices. My income is fairly secure and I don’t have any money so I haven’t lost any in the market. I’ve been doing my part to help the economy. In the last 3 months I’ve bought a car, a television, a TV stand and a KitchenAid stand mixer for my daughter for her graduation present. Now I’m paying for these things.
I would kill for a gardener but those are hard to come by in these parts and expensive.

For me it would just be changing to cheaper brands I never used to look at the price on anything and usually brought the well know brands from the supermarket. Now I just make a concious effort to get a cheaper alternative, this actually saves us quite a bit and most of the products are similar to what we was buying before.
