Family
FamilyI love watching my boy kick ass at a baseball tournament like any red-blooded American Mom, but I REALLY love the shenanigans that go on in the stands with the other 80% of the family.
Dylan and Daphne were angels, getting along and playing together, making runs for snacks together and BRINGING ME CHANGE. Woot! Sure, I gave them a twenty, but it was still an act of sheerest optimism to have given it to them in the first place.
And then, Dylan entertained us in the last innings by drawing portraits of me in my various moods:
“Mom when she just gives up on us.”
“Mom when we’re just magical.”
“Mom when she’s reading or at the computer.”
“Mom when she loses her mind.”

I can’t tell you how much I love this! I think you should make one of these drawings your profile pic.

Love the ‘mood drawings’—did dylan come up with the moods himself?

Oh no, the moods and the descriptions were all his! He was killing me! They are in order of presentation, to boot. He saved the best for last, with the waving hands and freakout face.

Mindy—agree, the ‘losing your mind’ portrait is particularly effective with the waving arms!! But also, LOVE that he has “when we’re just MAGICAL” in his vernacular—I’m stealing that one for my own kids. And in the mean time, golf claps for you both.

Once again, the beauty of a childs mind shining through. Excellent and funny drawings. I would like to link to this post if OK with you as it is very relevant to my site.

Bwahahaha. I love that you posted this!! I love your transparency. The world would be full of better mothers if they were all so transparent.

How adorable is that?! Kids DO NOT sugar coat anythings and truly see us for what and who we are. Hmmm…is that why my kids don’t like my inlaws?
I am sure my daughter’s drawing would look very similar to your son’s! : )

My favorite was the mom when she looses her mind! Love her perspective!
