I got in a little trouble this morning for painting without calling my friend to come and help…
Her: don’t tell me you finished painting D’s room !.....
Me: I did the walls in the corner and the one over the closet! I had to! I had to get the room back together before the cleaners came or I would have shot myself
Me: BUT
Me: I got a call from Daph this morning
Me: “Mama?”
Me: “I was at the park, and I fell on this… um, brick wall?”
Her: oh no ....
Me: “and I got seven stitches in my chin!”
Her: oh ! man !!!!
Me: they didn’t call me because I was at dinner with an old friend and they didn’t want to bother me
Her: was it during camp ? she is with you today ?
Me: she’s staying home from camp today :-x
Me: it was at the concert in the park so last night sometime. And remember the kids didn’t have insurance as of last week? So I said, “What did it cost?”
Me: and he said, “Oh I had just enough left on my flexible spending card.”
Her: oh boy !!!
Me: oh, and… “They decided to make our health coverage retroactive to date of hire.”
Her: like you needed this ...
Me: so we hung up and then I called right back: “You mean they are all covered?? I was going to add them to my insurance today!”
Me: “Yep!”
Me: gee, were you going to tell me?
Her: ugh .....
Her: ohmmmm
Me: Happy Thursday!
Her: how is Daphne now ?
Her: is it hurting her the stitches ???
Me: Gil said she was really good in the ER, sat really still and everything
Me: and she is hurting this morning, staying home with Gil
Me: but I am going to go over and see her, and make sure she has Motrin
Her: poor baby
Me: She is with her dad and brothers for the next five days and I can just see her, all dirty with water and sand in the bandage and a big chocolate ring around her mouth
Her: heheheh
Me: I am going to want to manage the hell out of that scar once the stitches come out
Her: kids ...
Me: seriously, my brother got 8 stitches in his chin and that scar is ugly
Her: don’t worry too much about the scar ; maybe it won’t show that much
Me: I think she’s really secretly proud that she has at last had stitches like both her brothers. Rite of passage!
Her: Good for her !!!! It’s all part of being a Roberts!
Me: Yes it is!
Her: you can’t have a normal , low key week .. can you ?????
Me: I doubt it
Me: I have Oreos
Me: oh, and my LG dryer broke
Me: The metal drum came apart at the seams, and Logan’s boxers went almost all the way through and then jammed the whole thing mid-cycle.
Me: So now I have stinky clothes - I’ll wash again and rediscover the joy of clotheslines
Me: Thank god it was on a weekend when I don’t have the kids
Me: So Phil bought home insurance maintenance coverage yesterday, and will call for repairs today
Me: ohm
Me: coffee

Something about painting must say it has to be done by itself. The few friends I have begged for me to help them out when they paint always end up doing it “overnight”. Sigh. I’ll have to jump on the bandwagon my loneself one of these days. Sounds like you needed that moment of alone time.

If it isn’t one thing…
I’m sure they had a plastic surgeon do the stitches. They seem to think of that for facial stuff these days so the scar shouldn’t be too bad.
We have a new kitten here who is trying to help me type and it’s really starting to get to me. If he puts a claw through my monitor screen, I will have to do bodily harm.

And it’s not even a holiday!
