This morning before taking my daughter and myself to to doctor to find out why we’ve had achy-breaky bodies for weeks now without any of the normal side dishes like fever or vomiting, we had to scare up some insurance cards. She’s insured under my ex’s plan, and I’m insured by the skin of my teeth.

After thumbing through my stack of cards/whatnot (come on, you have one, it has old school photos, buy-10-get-one-free cards, stamps, business cards, and the occasional actual piece of paper money), I found mine. The hunt was somewhat more adventurous at Daddy’s.

“How about this one?”

“Looks kinda old, let me see the date… 2006. Nope.”

“Really? I can’t even read the print. How about this one?”

“That one’s for you. Also from 2006.”

“Here’s one that looks newer, what does it say?”

“Just read it, Daddy!”

“He can’t sweetie, his arms aren’t long enough. Here, let me see… 2008! This should do!”

“I guess I can scrap the rest of these, let’s see, full set of 2006, a 2007, man, that’s a lot.” I started to drop them in the wastebasket, and then Daddy suggested Daphne could keep them to play with.

She grabbed the deck of useless cards and fanned them. “Okay, anyone got a 2008? No? How ‘bout a 2006? Okay, go fish.”

So what was the diagnosis?  I’m on my last couple of days of antibiotics for a sinus infection but since I have a whopping sinus headache right now, I’m not sure it’s worked.

I always ask for extra insurance cards so that Daddy and I each have our own and older children who go to the doctors without me have their own too.

Happy Easter

No idea! They need a couple more days to cook the cultures and finish the titers. Negative for Mono, though, and my white blood cell count is low. What else is new? I should be dead from the stress.

HA! What a testament to how you guys raise your kids. A great sense of humor and ability to keep people on track will take her far in the world! ;)
