Is Your Mom Self Overtaking Your Sexual Self?

Women who’ve become mothers are juggling so many new things in their lives, that they sometimes supress that sexual side of themselves and elevate the mom side. Its not easy to find your groove again, but it certainly is necessary.  Daphne Brogdon asks the Momversation gals and you, “Is Your Mom Self Overtaking Your Sexual Self?”

Hi Mindy,

A dear friend of mind referred your blog to me. Before I comment on your Momversaton above, I just want you to know that I admire the fact that you are a real woman, and your blog content is so relevant to what so many of us moms are going through today.  Your posts hit everything dead on - especially in your momversation “Is Your Mom Self Overtaking Your Sexual Self”! Before I had kids I was also a nympho, but these days I find it so difficult to feel sexy anymore.  I’m 42 and definitely not planning on getting pregnant ever again. On the other hand,  I wouldn’t mind being the mom in this video!
I watched this on You Tube earlier today because the title caught my eye, but it is actually a commercial for LUVS diapers! You’d never know it though. I think every mom would appreciate the humor in this one! Cheered up my day so figured I’d share : )

(1) Do you own a gun? Not just one: pistols, revolvers, pump and semi-auto shotguns, rifles, each has its own special use or purpose and reason for being in my home.

(2) Why or why not? It is not the government’s job to protect you. Ask an honest cop if it is his job to protect you or to clean up afterwords. An unemotional look at statistics reveals that gun ownership makes a home safer as the number of times firearms are successfully used for defensive purposes massively overwhelms any accidental/purposeful misuse. As a general rule, it is downright irresponsible not to have a firearm in your home.

(3) If you do, how do you protect your kids from your firearm?  Discipline, education, stay at home parent, and other methods which are private.

4) Or do you think owning a gun sends the wrong message to your child? Not owning a gun sends the wrong message. Do you lock your doors at night? Why…no really, why do you lock your doors? Say the answer out loud. Now, do you really truly believe that flimsy little lock is the solution to why you lock your doors? Unless that is, your answer was, “I want to ever so slightly slow down bad people who would like to do unimaginable harm to my family.” Perhaps your answer was, “I know the locks do nothing and I’m relying solely on luck that I won’t be a victim.” I truly don’t understand people who don’t have a firearm in the house. Actually, I do understand them, and the answer involves irrational fear and ignorance.

Switzerland has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world due to their militia requirement to keep their issued guns in their homes. But, at the same time, it has very little gun related violence. Typically more assaults/death with knives than with guns. Gun violence has nothing to do with guns and everything to do with culture. Raise an idiot and he’ll kill you or himself with whatever is nearby.

I could go on forever, but I’ll stop here.
